Today’s post is a slightly different one, as we go into a new year I’m sure most people’s goals/resolutions will involve some kind of fitness/healthy eating plan I’ve followed suit not so much with the fitness because I’m a lazy bugger and use the excuse that ‘I don’t have time’ which is actually quite true as I work 40 hours per week and after a long day at work I just want to go home and get my PJs on!
So I thought the easiest thing for me to do was to stop snacking on rubbish unhealthy foods and actually change my lifestyle by adding more nutritious wholesome foods and cutting down my portion size (that’s a whole different ball game). I’ve been trying to replace bread with crackers as their lighter and don’t lie so heavy on the stomach and contain fewer calories. I opted for the Ryvita Original Crispbread only because they were on offer when I went to my local supermarket but since I’ve fallen in love with them and they often fall into my shopping trolley on a weekly basis. The crispbreads are made with only three natural ingredients wholegrain rye, water and a pinch of salt this makes it perfect for adding any topping you wish to enhance the flavour.
My favourite topping to load on are little spread of sundried tomato pesto, sliced mozzarella and sliced tomatoes with a sprinkle of black pepper. There’s no fancyness to this snack it can be topped with pretty much anything you want. For me this is a cheaper and healthier alternative to the junk I used to fill my body with. I tend to pair this snack with a yummy green juice filled with alkaline goodness which I will share with you in another post.
Ryvita do a wide range of nutritional products alongside their crispbreads such as crackers, rustic bakes etc I think I need to delve into these at some point, usually when I love something I don’t want to try other products, I’m the least adventurous person when it comes to foods, I think that needs to change.
What healthy snacks do you love?
