It’s no secret that I’m a huge Real Techniques fan, to be honest they’re the only brushes I own not sure if that’s strange but I’ve never needed to turn to another brush brand as the RT brushes fulfil their purpose, are super affordable and the quality is amazing.
About a year ago I went on a crazy spending trip and purchased most of their brush sets as well as the majority of the single brushes. As most of you will be aware Nic has taken out her selection of brushes (Nic’s Picks) which I was instantly drawn to not just because their so damn pretty but because I felt it was time to expand my collection.
This set contains five brushes, three of them being a new set exclusive and of course it’s these three which I’m most excited about. Along with the beautiful silver handles each brush has the infamous Real Techniques logo and brush names printed in the traditional Real Techniques colours which define which collection the brushes belong to. This is great especially for beginners as it helps to distinguish the brush usage however these are written in stone, as we all know the brushes are multi-functional, an added bonus!
The two brushes which have already been on sale are the Duo-Fibre Powder Brush and the Base Shadow Brush. Much to my regret when the duo-fibre brush range came out I did um and ah about purchasing them but thought it may have been an impulse buy so I held off. However I have realised the Powder Brush is great for dusting setting powder, bronzer and blusher
The three set exclusives are the Cheek Brush, Angled Shadow Brush and Eyeliner Brush. The Cheek Brush reminds me of the existent Expert Face Brush which is part of the Core Collection. However the bristles are a lot less dense which allows for more movement when blending in blusher/highlighter. The Angled Shadow Brush is perfect for applying eye shadow to the crease and outer corners of the lid, the product blends in effortlessly. The Eyeliner Brush is firm which allows great control when applying eyeliner, I struggle with winged liner but this brush allows great precision in creating a clean sharp finish.
There you have it lovelies, a quick breakdown of this fabulous Nic’s Picks Set. I absolutely love these brushes; I picked mine up for a bargain price of £20 in Superdrug (RRP £29.99). This set would make a perfect gift for a makeup novice or even someone who wants to add to their brush collection. Real Techniques are on point with their quality, I wash my brushes once a week and I have had no issues with shedding and that’s a huge plus for me!
