Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara | Review

Clinique Bottom Lash MascaraThis product was amongst my recent high end beauty haul, a product that some may think is a complete gimmick and therefore unnecessary. To some extent I have to agree, I have gone through 15 years of my life using the same mascara on both my top and bottom lashes and I’ve never felt the need to have a mascara specifically for my bottom lashes until I sucked into the ‘blogger’ hype.

The Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara (£13.00) comes in a 2ml tube and is designed exclusively for your bottom lashes (hence the name) and the teeny tiny wand helps to coat each and every lash from root to tip. It even gets right into the pesky corner lashes that are often a struggle to coat and that I would normally just neglect, as trying to coat them often resulted in a whole lot of mess.

The mascara comes in both Black and Brown, I opted for the black, when applied it does give the illusion of both added volume and length without feeling heavy. I haven’t experienced any sign of clumping, flaking, smudging or transferring of the product which is brilliant for my oily skin. It is also a true black which means my lashes looked as they did when I first applied the product.

Initially I did find it a faff using two different mascaras but I’ve got used to it probably because I’ve been using it every day since I bought it. I think the only drawback of this product is the price as much as I’ve enjoyed using it I’m not sure I would go out in a hurry to make a repurchase. It’s a nifty makeup item but by no means an essential.

It’s cute, I’ll give you that and I love itsy bitsy products but I can’t say I’m convinced. My current mascaras work fine for both top and bottom lashes. Would a smaller wand for the bottom be handy? Of course, but if I wanted to, I could probably buy a stand alone smaller mascara brush for less than this mascara!
