Clinique Stay-Matte (15 Beige) Oil-Free Make-Up | Review

Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free Make-Up | 15 Beige | Review

I’m back with another Clinique review; if you read my previous post on the Clinique Superprimer Universal Face Primer you will know that I also made a sneaky purchase of their Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free Make-Up.Purchasing the right shade foundation is the bain of my life and I don’t think I’ve come across one that is a perfect shade, even if I get matched up by a makeup consultant once I start wearing the foundation I don’t like the colour match and end up having a different coloured face and neck (not a good look at all). Another problem I have is foundations oxidising, but I was assured that this will not oxidize even on the oiliest of skins!

The Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free Make-Up comes in 20 shades Leanne (Counter Manager) tried three different foundation shades onto the skin before finally matching me up to 15 Beige. On first impressions I really liked the lightweight feel on my skin and it looked matte which is the look I always go for due to my skin being excessively oily.

Learning from past mistakes I didn’t purchase the foundation straight away, I went away in natural day light and wore the foundation all day to see if it kept me matte and if I was still happy with it. I actually had a power nap in it too (naughty I know) and it stayed put!

I then went in a few days later and made the purchase and I’m so glad I did. The lightweight gel-cream texture provides a matt finish and feels so comfortable to wear; it almost looks like you don’t have any foundation on but instead gives your skin an even tone. It’s perfect for the warmer months! The swatch below does look like the foundation is far too light for my skin tone but it is, I’ve just got super tanned arms from sitting in Avenham Park a bit too much.

Some people may find the downside to purchasing this foundation is that it doesn’t contain any SPF for me this isn’t a biggy as I hate having flashbacks in photos and I have been using the Crystal Clear Protect & Repair sunscreen as a moisturiser so my skin is still being protected.

Another thing I should mention is the simplistic packaging, I love having a plastic squeezy tube because it allows you to control how much product comes out to prevent wastage and it is perfect for travelling with or chucking into your on the go make up bag.

This is now my go to foundation and I’m so glad I purchased it, if you’re on the hunt for a lightweight oil-free foundation to see you through the warmer weather I would highly recommend you purchasing this, it retails for £22.50 (30ml) which I think is quite reasonable for a high end foundation.

Have you tried the Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free Make-Up?
What are your thoughts?

This is my favourite foundation, i think i’m on my 4th tube of it now but it lasts AGES! Perfect for oily skin but i’m really struggling to find a base at the minute that works well with it. I tried the dramatically different gel from Clinique but i didnt think it agreed with my skin at all 🙁

    Any suggestions?

Thank you for your comment Keli, it’s good to hear that someone shares my love for this foundation. I’m using the Clinique Superprimer Face Primer (Universal) which is amazing, I’ve done a blog post on it which has been linked at the top of this post. I would highly recommend it for oily skin. I hope that helps x x

Glad I found this. I’m oily too and hate my skin (super depressed with it atm) so definitely need to give this one a try! Thanks 🙂 x

Thank you for leaving a comment Amy, I’m glad you found the post useful. I feel your frustration with having oily skin but over the years I’ve managed to eliminate the oil by having a good skincare regime as well as using products that will eliminate the excess oil production. If it’s any consolation the Clinique Counter Manager did mention that people with oily skin age a lot slower and maintain their youthful skin for a lot longer. I was quite surprised to here this so I guess there is a positive for having oily skin x x
