I’ve been on a quest to find the perfect foundation ever since I started wearing makeup, as an Asian girl with excessively oily skin and inevitably yellow undertones I struggle to not only find the perfect shade but also to find a foundation that isn’t going to slide before 12pm.When I’ve visited makeup counters in the past I’ve always felt pressured and intimidated by sales assistant to buy the shade which they matched to my skin tone, but to then bring it home and find it looks nothing like what it did in the store. I’ve learnt my lesson and always (where possible) ask for a sample before committing to a full size product and parting with twenty/thirty odd pounds. The other problem I tend to have is I buy a shade that looks ‘perfect’ and then several months down the line it looks like the complete wrong shade, frustrating is an understatement!
This ramble brings me to the Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation (£29.50) which I’ve heard many bloggers rave about especially those with a similar skin type to me. I gave into the hype and decided to try this product for myself in a cute sample size. Fortunately the sales assistant at my local Estée Lauder counter was incredibly helpful and spent a lot of time talking to me about what I expect from my foundation, when she finally pulled out the draw with all the shades I was stunned, their colour range is incredible and split into warm, neutral and cool tones.I was matched to the shade 3W2 Cashew and when sampled in store it really was the perfect shade but I still asked for a sample (past experiences and all that) the foundation provides a medium to high coverage and includes an SPF 10 the consistency of the product is quite thick but is incredible blendable and buildable which provides a natural finish without any sign of cakeyness.
I always prep my skin with a moisturiser and then apply a thin layer of primer before applying the foundation I find that this enhances the staying power. Once all my makeup is on I take a light dusting of the Vichy Dermablend Translucent Setting Powder to finally lock my foundation in place. This foundation most definitely keeps the skin looking amazing but still allowing it to breathe, there was no sign of any oxidisation, fading or transferring of product. I’ve been going through a tough time with my skin and as a result have had a few breakouts which have marked my skin, so to have a foundation that conceals my imperfections, makes my skin look flawless and more importantly mattifies is just amazing.
I feel satisfied that I’ve finally found the perfect foundation which not only matches my skin tone but leaves me matte for the entire day without having to touch up on my setting powder, I think my quest is finally over.
