Filling my eyebrows in only became a recent venture in my makeup routine and for those of you who do fill your brows in you’ll know it isn’t always an easy or quick task. I start work at 4am (#airportlife) so needed to find a product that was a quick solution to filling and sculpting my brows. I’ve been using a eyebrow pencil as I find it a lot easier to control and to apply however it just takes me so long to get my brows perfect and frankly it’s time that I just don’t have!
There are hundreds of brow products on the market but for something less damaging to my hard earned cash I turned to a product from the drugstore the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara (£4.99) purely because of the countless raves on how quick and effective the product was. I picked it up in the shade ‘Dark Brown’ I think it only actually comes in four shades the other three being ‘transparent,’ ‘Medium Brown’ and ‘Deep Blonde’ so there’s pretty much a shade to cover all basis.
The packaging is pretty bog standard and to be honest looks a bit cheap especially with the sticker across the front but for £4.99 I don’t think I can really expect anything fancy. The domed brush applicator has been formulated to combs through and coat every hair for natural even finish. I’ve found this brush really hard to use as it’s so big, I think I would have preferred a brush more like a mascara wand. The colour pay off isn’t great either so I’m having to apply a couple of strokes which on occasions has resulted in ‘crispy brows.’ The only solution I have found is to apply my brow pencil first and then set it with this brow mascara but that defeats the initial purpose of the product and also adds more time to the routine.
I think you know where the verdict is heading, as much as I wanted to love this product I just didn’t get on with it and it didn’t live up to my expectations. I’ve now gone back to using my trusted brow pencil and often skip the brow routine at 4am but for the days where I do have more time it definitely gives me the desired effect and a more put together makeup look.
