I’ve very much a felt tip liner girl purely because I’m rubbish at applying any other type of eyeliner and we won’t go into applying winged liner because that’s a whole different subject altogether. On my usual ‘browsing’ antics I spotted the Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Gel Liner and thought this product would be a great way to get out of my comfort zone.
From what I can gather this is a re-brand of an existing product to coincide with the Kate Moss Rimmel London Range. The product comes in a sleek black and white outer packaging once opened you find a 2.4g plastic pot and a short eyeliner brush.
On first impressions the eyeliner is super black, I wasn’t expecting the colour pay off to be so dark, it is quite possibly the blackest liner I’ve used. The brush isn’t all that great and as a result I turned to my trusted Real Techniques Liner Brush to apply the product.
The consistency of liner is incredibly creamy so my advice is pick up the tiniest amount on your brush and then re-load it. The creaminess allows the product to glide on with ease and prevents tugging on the eyes. I’m always sceptical when brands make a bold statement of their product being ‘waterproof’ but the Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Gel Liner really did live up to its promise. This product doesn’t budge so be prepared to invest in a good make up remover.
I’m glad I picked this product up I haven’t yet mastered the art of eyeliner but I have to say the gel liners do provide a lot more control during application. For £4.99 (RRP £6.99) I think it’s a decent enough product and if you’re on the hunt for a gel liner with a great colour pay off and staying power then give this one a go.
