It’s no secret that I’m a huge Urban Decay fan and have all of the NAKED palettes a bit excessive some may say but if you own a palette you’ll understand why I’m so drawn to this brand. The Naked On The Run Palette was launched just in time for Christmas 2014 and as always when a brand label a product with ‘limited edition’ it’s only a matter of time before everyone wants it. My Instagram feed was filled with gorgeous photos of this palette, I was in awe and it quickly became a product I ‘needed.’
With my birthday being at the end of December I put it on a wish list but it was inevitable that they sold out within a few days of the release, I was gutted. This didn’t stop me going in to my local Debenhams store to swatch the product on numerous occasions, the Urban Decay Sales Assistants got to know me pretty well and I soon became a regular waiting for this product to be re-stocked.
However, as time went on I got fed up of waiting and soon forgot about the palette. It was only when Debenhams had their beauty sale on that I spotted this palette on their website with a whopping 30% off I didn’t think twice this palette was finally going to be mine, it was the fastest online purchase I had ever made.
This palette is perfect for travelling with whether it’s for a weekend away, flights abroad or for those mornings where you just don’t have time to put on a full face of makeup on and have to finish the rest off on public transport or at your desk at work. The palette houses a mascara, an eyeliner, a lip gloss, five neutral eye shadows, a blusher, bronzer and a highlighter which are all the products (minus base and concealer) to create a full face of makeup. Also there are no brushes include in this palette so you either have to use your fingers or pack a few multi-purpose brushes to assist with application.
The eye shadows in this palette are beautiful, to be honest I wouldn’t expect anything less from Urban Decay they’re always on point with their shadows. These are brand new shades and not ones that have been in previous palettes so if you’re thinking of buying this palette you won’t be duplicating shades. The neutral shades are perfect for creating a subtle everyday look or for a more smokey evening look by incorporating the shimmery metallic shades. The 24/7 glide on eyeliner in ‘Stag’ is a dark brown shade which is so easy to blend and will enhance a smokey eye or can be used to create a softer daytime look and the Perversion Mascara will finish off both the eye look perfectly.
The bronzer and blusher look considerably bright in the palette but once applied they are subtle but buildable to create the desired effect. The bronzer has orange tones but applied with a soft hand will provide a golden glow. The blush is very pink so I would advise using a little at a time and blend well to create a soft pink flush. Although the shade next to the blusher is an eye shadow I much prefer using it as a highlighter due to its powdery texture, the lovely soft shade really enhances the desired areas (cheek bones, cupids bow etc) and will finish off your makeup beautifully. Finally we have the lip gloss to complete the entire look, I’m not usually a fan of lip gloss but this one is in a beautiful rose pink shade that would be suitable for all complexions and its non-sticky consistency provides great staying power.
I love the rose gold and marble look packaging there’s just something so striking about it, although it is bulky it’s lightweight and once closed it is secure and could handle being thrown into a bag. It is made to use on the go hence the name ‘NAKED On The Run.’ I’m going to get a great deal of use out of this ultimate travel kit and I can’t wait to take it away with me over Easter it will definitely help me to downsize what I would normally take away with me. Although I paid £25.90 for this palette I think it is most definitely worth the £37.00 price tag but if you’re thinking of purchasing this palette head over to Feel Unique where you can currently purchase it for £29.60.
