I would like to start this post by saying a huge ‘thank you’ to Vichy Dermablend UK for sending me these products to review. For those of you who haven’t heard of this brand before it’s probably because it’s quietly tucked away in the skincare section of most Boots stores and the curious amongst us has spotted it and given it a go.Vichy Dermablend is brand that is highly recommended by dermatologists and is used by some of the world’s most influential makeup artists. For the past 30 years this brand has been helping women with their expert high coverage foundation which not only covers minor skin concerns but also the severe ones which often leave women feeling extremely self-conscious. With the introduction of their re-branded *Fluid Corrective Foundation (£18) Vichy has introduced a selection of new shades i.e. Porcelain (05), Coffee (65) and Espresso (85) there are now 8 shades to choose from.
When Vichy asked me to pick my foundation shade I had a quick look online for swatches and opted for Bronze (55) unfortunately this shade is extremely dark for my skin tone which I’m gutted about. I think if I was to go away to an exotic location and get well tanned this shade may just be suitable. I was never blessed with a flawless complexion and over the years have suffered with scarring, pigmentation and huge dark circles. I figured that although this shade is completely wrong I would apply it in the comfort of my own home purely to test out its coverage and longevity.
The creamy and slightly thick consistency of this product means you only need a small amount, I would say roughly the size of a 5 pence piece). I applied it using the *Vichy Foundation Brush which was included in my box of goodies. I found that whilst applying the product it began to dry quickly so I needed to blend the product pretty much instantly. It provided an opaque matte finish and gave an even complexion to the skin. It most definitely covers the imperfections particularly well especially the pigmentation and dark circles. With an added SPF35 this product will continue to protect the skin and help prevent pigmentation. I think if I can find my perfect shade in this product I would love it even more as it provides a medium coverage and great for concealing my imperfections.
For someone who has increasingly oily skin I found that after an entire day of wear (approximately 8 hours) I got a little shiny around my forehead and nose but for me this is inevitable and something that a little powder can fix. I’ve been using the *Vichy Dermabled Translucent Setting Powder (£16) for over a year and it most definitely is the best product for someone with excessively oily skin. I was thrilled to have been sent this product along with the foundation as I’m almost out of my current one.
Overall I’m really impressed with the products I was sent it’s just unfortunate I chose the wrong foundation shade. I think I need to experiment with a few more Vichy Dermablend products, next on the list for me is the Corrective Stick as I’ve read some great reviews on it. If you’re interested in any of the products I’ve mentioned in this post you can find them at most Boots stores or on their website.
