When I’m on a food shop I always take a mooch down the toiletries aisle just to see what products are out and of course to check the offers. On my recent Asda trip I came across the Garnier Pure Active Intensive Charcoal Scrub and thought I would share my thoughts with you lovelies.
Although I like to stick to my regular skincare products purely because they work for my skin type (excessively oily) I do from time to time introduce something new into the mix. This time my new skincare buddy is the Garnier Pure Active Intensive Charcoal Scrub (what a mouthful). Anything that promises to deep cleanse, draw out impurities and unclog pores is always lures me into making a purchase. I’ve been using this product for the last few weeks on a daily basis; it contains active charcoal which acts as a ‘dirt magnet’ for impurities. The clear gel scrub is packed full of tiny little charcoal beads which help deep cleanse to eliminate spots and blemishes.
My skin obviously produces an excessive amount of sebum hence the extreme oilyness so to have a product which also contains 2% Salicylic Acid is a massive plus. Unfortunately with oily skin comes the dreaded clogged pores, blackheads (gross I know) and blemishes so to have a product that can minimize these is always fabulous!
The way I use this product is firstly by rinsing my face with warm water, I then take a pea sized amount of the gel and massage it into my skin focusing on the areas which are prone to excess oil, blackheads and clogged pores. The gel lathers up quite generously, at this point I take my Clarisonic Aria and use circular motions to really get the product into the skin, I then rinse it all off with warm water and pat my face dry.
I have definitely seen positive results with this product; I find my blackheads especially around my nose area are minimising, although my oilyness isn’t banished I do feel it is helping to keep me face matte for longer. Using this product on a daily basis hasn’t been harsh on my skin in fact I’ve felt it’s been gentle enough hence why I do use it every day.
However, I wouldn’t recommend this product if you have sensitive or dry skin as it may be too harsh for you but if you can relate to my skin qualms then I would say give this a go. I picked this scrub up for £2 in Asda but I think the usual selling price is £4.99 which isn’t too badly priced in my opinion. I think this little beauty will be staying in my skincare routine for a while.
Have you tried the Garnier Pure Active Intensive Charcoal Scrub?
