Whenever I walk past a Lush Store they smell incredible but I’ve never been tempted to go in (strange I know). Over the years I’ve heard, watched and read a lot about the brand so when I was away I finally plucked up the courage and went in. It’s quite overwhelming with the amount of products they stock and the amount of testers available.I got chatting to one of the Sales Associates and she was asking me what skin type I was so I decided to introduce her to my grease ball of a face! She was so lovely and sat me down and started showing and trying out a load of products on my hand.
I didn’t want to commit to buying anything without sampling a few things as Lush skincare is quite expensive, after the consultation I cheekily asked her if I could have a few samples of the products she tested on me, she was more than happy to pack a few up for me and I was on my way.
The samples I was given were to target oily skin, bearing in mind that Lush only use natural produce to make their products. They believe in making ‘effective products from fresh*, organic* fruit and vegetables, the finest essential oils and safe synthetics.’ I’ve never used completely natural products so this was a first for me.
The samples I received included:
Coalface | Facial Soap
‘Sometimes you have to get dirtier to get cleaner.’
I love liquorice so I was quite excited to use this product; it is specifically designed for oiler skin. Don’t be fooled by the colour of this soap, Lush ahs ensured that the product is gentle enough for the face but can also be used on the body. It gently exfoliates the skin and once you wash the product off and dry your face it feels so matt. A thumbs up from me!
Herbalism | Fresh Cleanser
‘A solid cleanser to gently exfoliate, remove grease and calm troubled skin.’
This cleanser can be used on both the face and body. It is not the best smelling product and has a slight vinegar scent to it but I wasn’t overly bothered about how it smelt. I first washed my face and then rubbed a small amount over my face; it gives a slight exfoliating feeling but nothing too harsh. I do like this product but with a sample size it is difficult to tell if it’s working as there are no real signs of any change to my skin.
Tea Tree Water | Toner Water
‘Comes to the aid of skin that has emergencies.’
The sample included three cotton pads which had already been sprayed with the Tea Tree Water, when applied to the skin it feels refreshing and provides a good base for applying moisturiser. I think using this toner alongside Herbalism keeps the blackheads at bay. I would like to repurchase this product in the future.
Enzymion | Moisturiser
‘A thing of beauty is a joy forever, Keeps oily skin looking at its best.’
This product smells gorgeous; I quite like citrusy smelling products as long as they’re not too strong. I’m glad I got a sample of this before purchasing the full size product as initially when I applied it my skin felt quite matte however after a few hours I became quite shiny. So for me this isn’t a product I’ll be re-purchasing.
Overall I’ve had a good experience with the lush skin care samples and I would consider purchasing the full size products but I think I need to finish off the products I’ve got before I decide to repurchase anymore!
All of the above products can be purchased from a Lush Store or the Lush Website.
