Realities of a Single Parent | My Top Tips for Travelling with a Toddler

Since uploading my last post on ‘Our First Holiday to Turkey‘ I’ve had a fair few people message me asking if I can do a ‘Travel Tips’ post when travelling with a Toddler. Clearly I’m no expert on this topic area but I’ll share what worked for us whilst travelling to Turkey. I think one of the main reasons I put off travelling with Leila sooner was due to the nightmare stories I either heard or read about.

I also kept telling myself she was too young to go abroad and it might be best to wait until she’s older. But I took the plunge and realised with careful planning and preparation most dilemmas could be avoided and in turn it should be a fun and exciting experience. To make the idea a little less daunting, I’ve compiled a list of top tips for travelling with a toddler.  (more…)

Realities of a Single Parent | Our First Holiday to Turkey

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that I booked an incredibly last-minute holiday. Usually I’m very much a forward planner but that didn’t happen this time, I really needed a break I haven’t been on holiday for two years and after everything I’ve been through I just needed to get away. I booked the holiday on Sunday 24thJune and we flew out on Wednesday 27thJune so as you can imagine I was running around like a crazy person to get things bought, packed and sorted.  (more…)

Realities of a Single Parent | Over-Compensating


This post has been a long time coming, I’ve written, re-written and deleted numerous posts on this subject purely because I was afraid to publicise the fact that I am a single parent. But why should I be embarrassed? There are thousands of parents that single handedly raise their child/children and as much as it is still a taboo in some cultures I’ve decided that it isn’t something I’m embarrassed or ashamed about, in fact it is something I should embrace on a daily basis.
